1. What's your favorite vacation spot? Probably a toss up between Macinac City/Island Michigan and Disney world. :) This summer we are going to Williamsburg again. Its the only place we have taken Megan. For some reason, my family has decided to make that the family vacation spot this year so we are going in June.

2. Where do you consider to be the biggest hell-hole on earth? Sawmills, NC. People never leave this place. You are born here and you die here... NOT ME DAMMIT!!! LET ME OUT!

3. What would be your dream vacation? A trip through the British Isles.

4. If you could go on a road-trip with anyone, who would it be and why? Josh! I always have more fun when I'm with him. :)

5. What are your plans for this weekend? Tomorrow I am working on my lap quilt with Robin and on Sunday Josh and I are going shopping for seeds and I'm gonna start the seeds indoors. I've never planted a garden of any kind before, so this should be interesting. :P
I've had some self-esteem issues lately. My clothes are either falling off of me or rags (or too small, but most of that has been gotten rid of). The few things that fit (with the exception of 2 things) just aren't *me*. Josh tells me I'm beautiful but I can't believe him. My hair was looking really good and then the stupid jerk chopped off my bangs that I spent my entire pg with Dawson growing out. I'm attempting to grow this junk out again but frustrated because I need to get it thinned out really badly but don't know who to go to. My skin is in the winter blah stage and really dry and flaky. I spent money on Clinique stuff that isn't even helping. So, I don't wear any makeup right now, but I definitly feel better when I do.

So, Josh asked me the other day what would help me feel better. I said some clothes that fit and feel right on me. Well, now that things have started to turn around financially for us, he said I could go get myself some jeans that fit me and gave me permission to get some patterns and sew myself whatever I want. So, mom and I took the kids to Kohls for jeans. I tried on a pair of 10P low rise jeans and they were too short and a tad tight. So, I put on the 12P and they fit beautifully. I picked up what I thought were the 12's and left the dressing room. Got home and realized I had the 10s. ACK! Josh is going up there on his way home to get the right pair for me. He can't complain though, they are pretty sexy. :p

My next sewing project for myself is a pair of lightweight drawstring pants for myself. They should be pretty easy. I found some beautiful turquois rayony fabric that was on the clearance rack. There may be enough to make Megan a matching pair. Tomorrow my best friend (Megan's Aunt RaRa) is coming over to help me finish the lap quilt I started. I have pieced this by hand. BUT, I will never again sit down and do an entire profject by hand. I'm not Amish and I own a sewing machine darnit! I do have plans to make Mimi a quilt but it will be done primarily on the machine. I will quilt it by hand just because I don't mind doing some of it by hand. Piece work though stinks!

Dinner was pork and broccoli oriental. You cook cubed pork in olive oil and then add 1/2 cup water, 3/4 t ginger, some chopped garlic (I used 3 cloves) and 2 T tamari and let simmer covered for 30 min. Add 1 cup water, 1 package chichen gravy mix, and some broccoli flowerettes. Cook to a boil while stirring. Turn down and cover again while simmering for 10 min. Serve with brown rice. Megan mmmm'ed with every bite. :) That makes me feel good. Josh hates broccoli, but he will probably not have any problem eating it like this.

Looks like were gonna soon say goodbye to Dr. Greene. I admit, I always cry when something happens to a loved charecter, especially if its a show I enjoy watching. I've been with ER since probably season 3 and I've seen all the re-runs on TNT. I have always loved Dr. Green. Even when he throws his tantrums. Seeing someone you love go through something so traumatic (his brain cancer) and knowing that hes going through it alone because Corday has moved out with the baby makes it even harder. (I really take this show too personally. :p But, WOO HOO!...Jerry's back!!! :D

I didn't watch Friends, but I taped it. I may have some comments on it tomorrow.

Survivor was disappointing. For once, I'd like to see the lazy eye-candy go in the first episode. I'm sure I'll keep watching though, I always do. LOL

My sister sint me this in an email. SHould be good for a laugh or 10...
DR. BUBBA IS INTERVIEWED BY THE HEALTH CHANNEL...

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this
true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it. Don't waste
them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart
will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life
of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and
corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an
efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain?
Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy
vegetable).
And a pork chop can give you 100% of our recommended daily allowance of
vegetable slop.

Q: Is beer or wine bad for me?
A: Look, it goes to the earlier point about fruits and vegetables. As we
all know, scientists divide everything in the world into three categories:
Animal, mineral, and vegetable. We all know that beer and wine are not
animal, and they are not on the periodic table of elements, so that only
leaves one thing, right? My advice: Have a burger and a beer and enjoy
your liquid vegetables.

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body, and you have body fat, your ratio is one to
one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise
program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain - Good.

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: You're not listening. Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In
fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad
for you?

Q: What's the secret to healthy eating?
A: Thicker gravy.

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the
middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should
only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? Cocoa beans... Another vegetable. It's the best
feel-good food around!

I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food
and diets. Have a cookie... Flour is a veggie!

I stayed up to see Alan Jackson sing "Where were you when the world stopped turning" last night on the Grammy's and I'm so glad I did! Its such a beautiful song and its one that I don't mind sticking in my head.

It was fun to see OutKast sing "Ms. Jackson" live, but what was up with the pink Barbie outfit?? He reminded me of Prince.

The O Brother Where Art Thou part was fabulous and I'm glad I can finally put a face with the Soggy Bottom Boys.

I gotta wonder what this is all about though.

I got this idea from Mina who got it from Holly...

10 things you (probably) don't know about me

1.I am very impatient
2.I once plotted to turn all the parking spaces in our high school parking lot into parallel parking spaces. This failed when they started closing and locking both gates in the evening because the school had been vandilized.
3.I am married to a redneck. He no longer looks the part, but he is still one. We are completely opposite.
4.I love to stop at Wendy's and get a lg fry and frosty. Then I dip the fries in the frosty.
5.My first memory is of the day my parents moved me out of the crib in their bedroom, upstairs to the room I would share with my sister. My brother was on the way so they had to move me. It is also the first time I can remember going upstairs in that house, but I'm sure I had to have been up the steps before that time.
6.I grew up with an enormous crush on Davy Jones (of the Monkees).
7.I grew up with a very controlling mother. If she didn't like something, it was deemed "junk" and I wasn't allowed to be a part of it. Usually this pertained to something on tv, but I hardly consider shows like "Who's the Boss" to be "junk" (whatever that was). Her attitude just drove me to defy her more.
8.I sometimes dream of running away, getting a whole body job and becoming a dancer. (not stripper)
9.I graduated from HS with a 3.4 gpa. Nothing spectacular, but I could have done better with just minimal studying. (something I only did in Chemistry because it just did NOT come to me naturally).
10.I fit in wherever I wanted to in HS. I hung out with the dorks and then turned around and remained friends with the popular people. I guess I fit better with the dorks but I was just likeable enough to fit in everywhere. :p

For some reason, I haven't seen this on the news and there isn't an online article (Josh said it was in the local Sunday paper, but we don't get it). The local BMW/Mercedes dealership was broken into over the weekend and 2 vehicles valued at $100,000 each were stolen off (get this) THE SHOWROOM FLOOR! The place didn't have an alarm system. They went in the front door, and removed an entire panel of glass big enough to drive through, moved 2 vehicles out of the way in order to steal the 2 targeted cars and then drove off. There are no leads from what Josh heard. I'm sure those cars had buyers long before they were taken. They will most likely never be found. I guarantee that dealership now has an alarm system too.
To do this week:

Make copies of taxes and mail them (yes this is a carry over)
Finish my grey skirt

Buy some new material and attempt a nursing dress-I've decided to hold off on this project for a few weeks.
Get a pattern and material to make some lounge/PJ pants
Mop floors
Take books back to library
Organize fabric stash
Finish reading "Fast Food Nation"
Stay on top of the laundry
Finish lap quilt-Saturday's project
Buy seeds for our garden and start seedlings-Sunday's project

Find out how much you are worth...
I am worth exactly: $1,453,830.00.

I'm not clear if this is a yearly figure or lifetime. :P
Oh my...

You are Rowlf!
You don't draw attention to yourself much, preferring to keep your cool and stay in the background
.

UGH! Dawson's nap schedule is wearing on me. I get him to sleep and then go right toward getting Megan to sleep for her afternoon nap. I nurse her for about 20 min or so to sleep and then I sit down to relax for a few min and within 15 min Dawson's awake again for several hours. Hes going through a clingy stage and weighs a ton. I can't get much done with him in a sling these days because hes so grabby. Cooking is definitly out. I think we need to invest in a backpack. Anyone have a suggestion or have a used one to sell me? I'd like to sit down and sew for a bit in the afternoon but I dont' even start because I know I won't get very far and if I am in the back of the house doing that, I can't hear him if he wakes up and I dont' want to risk him waking M up before shes had a good nap or I will pay the price for that for the rest of the day.

I think of funny things when I wake up at night to feed Dawson and change his diaper. I remembered my worst birthday gift, so I need to make an amendment to last week's friday five. The worst present was from Josh. I wanted a bunny so bad I couldn't stand it, so he bought me the most precious flop eared grey bunny when I turned 17 or maybe 18. That bunny was a hellion!! It chewed up all sorts of stuff and woke me up at 5am doing laps in his cage. Josh made me a beautiful wooden cage with a pullout drawer for changing the paper. The bad thing about that though is that the pee soaked strait through the wood and I soon had stinky carpet. I only had that dear bunny for a month when friend of Josh's came and relieved me of him. She had 5 or 6 bunnies, so one more wasn't that bad and she had an outdoor thing for them to live in. I hope "bear" liked his new home.
